Hello, I am Sophie

Project manager. Parent. Expat based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.

How It Started

Moving to Netherlands wasn’t in the plan I originally had. Like many international assignments, it began as a job opportunity and quickly developed into something far bigger.

The initial few months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday chores felt more complex than expected.

The Adjustment Period

There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, met other families, and began to build something that felt steady.

Why I Built QijaJyzaCgujAkig

Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was a candid, everyday family view.

This site exists to fill that gap — practical advice grounded in real life in Netherlands.

What this site is (And Isn't)

This site stands for:

  • Real-world insights from living in Netherlands
  • Centered on family life and daily realities
  • Updated whenever there is a real change

This site isn't:

  • An official tourism authority resource
  • A sponsored review site
  • A typical travel blog

Looking Ahead

Our time in Netherlands goes on, as does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue recording what we uncover.

If you have questions about family life in Amsterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, please feel free to get in touch.

Best wishes,

Sophie
